So regardless of whether or not it’s wanted for those of you taking sneaky recordings or saving pictures your days may be numbered.
Does instagram tell you when someone screenshots your story update#
In June 2016 Instagram rolled out the rather unpopular new feed algorithm update in which posts were no longer simply in chronological order but used a “Smarter” system to determine what posts you should be seeing. I’m not sure how well received this feature will be initially but if Instagram’s policy of “To hell with what you want” in regards to features is anything to go by I don’t think that matters too much. I’ve Tweeted for a response but for now this is purely an unconfirmed rumour. If this is genuine it does point towards them adopting a similar approach to Snapchat’s feature that lets you know when someone has taken a screenshot. There is always the possibility that the testing could resume at any time without you even knowing it. There's no guarantee that Instagram is done with story screenshot notifications for good. Can you see when someone has screenshotted your Instagram Currently, Instagram hasn’t introduced a function for Stories or even for the grid posts, so you won’t know when someone has saved your photos. Since then, Instagram users have been able to freely screenshot or screen grab other users' stories without them being notified of it.
Whether or not this is for your stories or images all together is unsure. Whether it’s your Instagram Story, your Instagram grid post or your Instagram DMs: if someone screenshots it, we want to know about it.
That or a hoax to really mess with someone you know to be a bit too keen on your Instagram. This could be a new feature that’s being A/B tested among a select few users.
